    Hi
Would it be possible to get Russian channels from here by a satellite? What is the minimum dish size? Which satellite has the most Russian channels available for free and encryption? I know that it is on the Lyngsat website but it don't really understand it.
    Please write back. :D

36 east is the main source in the western sky for russian tv ( ntv package ) but you would need a dish as big as house to even stand a chance of getting it ( 5meter at least and even then you wouldn't be guaranteed to get it ). there are a few more russian channel's on various other european satellites ( have a look here http://www.kingofsat.net/findlist2.php?pos=*&code_pays=rus&num_pays=*&num_genre=*&num_crypt=*&num_standard=*&ordre=nom_ch ) however there was a new satellite just recently launched at 53e which might help you out. i haven't checked it out my self but from reading some sat forums it look's like it has a pretty strong signal over these island's but before you start getting excited, 53e means that it will be pretty low in the sky and you would need to have a pretty unobstructed view to get it. here's the current channel line up which will probably see new channel's coming and going for the first while http://www.kingofsat.net/freqs.php?pos=53.0E . hope this helps

You can get ORT 1 and RTR Planeta on Hotbird at 13.0 east in Digital.
They are FTA and could be gotten with even a 60 cm dish.

You can get a load of Russian on 9east with a dish of about 90cm. I can recieve them with my equipment. The provider is Platformadv and they do HD also. Can't read russian but here is their website http://www.platformadv.ru/ .

kay 9 : STS in moldovian and is on 16east FTA
STS in Russian is pay on 9east
TNT is like s**t in a field but the russian one is Free on 40east but pay on 16east
All the above are available on 80/90cm dishes

I put up a 1.2metre dish for my Estonian girlfriend and she is delighted with the tv she receives, I am receiving 5e, 9e, 13, 19e and each sat has a number of Russian channels for free and there is quite a few from Ukraine on 5e for free.

Hi All, I read this post with interest as I have a question re getting two Russian channels on my new LG smart tv (model 28MT495S). I have a 60cm dish with 3 LNBs (Astra, Hotbird and Sirius) that is currently feeding two sat. boxes and two tvs and on both tvs receiving Astra and Hotbird channels including RTR and 1TVRUS, two Russian channels.

Yesterday, I bought a new LG smart tv that has a satellite tuner within it and when I took the sat coax out of the box and screwed in the coax direct to the tv and tuned the two satellites, Astra and Eutelsat Hotbird 13E, I seemed to get all the astra channels but only get 48 channels tuned in on the Eutelsat Hotbird 13E, and the channels are not the same ones getting out of my sat boxes.

The two that I especially want are RTR and 1TVRUS. Does anyone know why theses are not coming? The channel information from the box itself TVRUS says it is on Hotbird 6, 1TVRUS Europ, 12597/V/27500, PID: 2301/2311/2301. In fact, while tuning the Hotbird satellite on the LG tv, I can see when it goes over 125927/V/27500 so it seems to be the right sat and transponder locations but it picks up no channel there. It just seems to pass over it.

Do you think it is a tv issue, or a location country issue. I checked the country in the satellite boxes, which were installed many years ago by a Latvian installer here in Ireland) and it is set to United Kingdom, but when I switched the LG tv location to UK (instead of Ireland), it only allowed me to tune on the Astra satellite and I wasn't even able to add the Eutelsat Hotbird satellite for tuning. When we bought the tv, I explained to the guy at the store (who also seemed to be eastern EU) that we were mainly trying to get Russian channels, and he quickly told me if we had any problems to try changing location countries, so I tried Latvia, Germany, Poland, and for each of these still getting the same 48 channels, which are pretty awful ones at that. Any held appreciated as it would be good to get rid of my old satellite box and put the cable straight into the smart tv instead as I want to wall mount it.

So your satellite receivers are receiving RTR and 1TVRUS OK?

But the LG TV is not?

Are the LNBs quads with 4 outputs each? Or standard LNBs with 1 output?

I seemed to get all the astra channels but only get 48 channels tuned in on the Eutelsat Hotbird 13E, and the channels are not the same ones getting out of my sat boxes.

What do you mean by this? What are the names of some of the Hotbird channels you are receiving on the LG?
