    Doh!!!

I have an old Advent (8705) with a pentium III 450mhz processor but my onboard sound doesn't work anymore. I had a soundcard in for a while but had to swap it for an Ethernet Card and want to get the old sound feature back. I have tried to reinstall the drivers but to no avail. Any suggestions??

might not be the cheepest thing, but if all else fails, you could buy a usb sound "box", cost about 50 squids.. they arent that bad!

It might be disabled in the bios or in your hardware manager.

Well if it comes to that I will have to get a USB Hub cos both my USB ports are currently being used..

    Ciaran

I only recently remastered my system and I restored the defaults in the BIOS so would that not mean it was selected??

If you've remastered the PC and still no joy chances are your sound is busted. if you go to www.pcservicecall.co.uk you can get service information and all the latest drivers for free Normally. other than that i've got no better advice.

    Cheers

did you by any chance ever disable your onboard sound on your motherboard with a jumper block? i once had to do it this way to get my sound card working! check with your motherboard manual and check where the jumper block for this is! if you do not have the manual google the motherboard model number and you should be able to download it and find out from there! you will also be able to keep a printed copy for future reference etc.!!!!!!!
