I can't get it to run the damn thing!

Installation menu boots, detects monitor model, the screen stands by, and that's it!

is there was to fix it?

I want to install RH9 btw

Redhat 9 is pretty old at this point and if you're using newer hardware...have a look at the Linux forum. There's a good post about what distro you should try. If you're fixed on Redhat 9 then you could do worse than trying Fedora Core 2 instead-its basically a beta testbest for Redhat technology.

Ran RH8, 9 and various incarnations of Mandrake on an Inspiron without issue. As Fenster said, if your hardware is rather new, you may find it easier to run something newer than RH9.

I ran red hat 9 on a dell inspiron 7000 no problem. Then again that is an old machine.

I run redhat on a lot of dell machines - servers to laptops. The only problem I've had is with X on laptops.

if it's hanging when you test the x server (right after giving it the monitor details) then don't test the x server, complete the install choosing a text login and install the drivers afterwards.
