Ok Built a PC for my bro about 6 months ago with the following specs:

Abit NF7-M mainboard for Socket A, LAN nForce2IGP/MCP/, ATX, VGA, USB2.0

AMD Athlon XP2500+ 1.833 GHz 333 MHz bus Socket A (Barton) processor, 512 kb. OEM

Cooler Master CPU-Fan Socket A/7/FCPGA CP5-8JD1F-0L, up to AMD XP3200+

    DDR-DIMM PC2700 512MB DDR CL2.5 Generic memory 184-P (for DDR-PC333MHz)

    Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9 80GB 7200RPM IDE ATA/133 8MB cache

Bought tower with 300W power supply because had probs with delivery of tower from Komplett(GLS more like)...anyway was getting loads of errors on boot and if I did get into Windows screen was distorted.....changed the memory to 2100 and it worked.....checked with Abit and they recommended I get a bigger PS to get 2700 memory to work.......so bought

Q-Tec PSU ATX 400W Dual Fan PSU for PIII/AMD/P4 CPUs

Prob solved....anyway a month ago started having probs....blue screen with random errors....said f**k it and went to reload WinXP......anyway now when tryin to reload getting differnet Blue Screen with again random errors......have ran Memory test.....HDD tests......all passed

Heard there was probs with these Power Supplys....has anyone had experience of these Power supplys? do they just die or die like a man walking thru the Sahara desert?? slowly!!

    Thanks the help!

Q-tec are terrible PSUs, they don't give out anywhere near their rate voltage. I've heard of lots of people where a Q-tec PSU died on them and took everything in the machine with it.

I advise you dump it quick.

I owned a 400w Gold Q-Tec when I first built my system - real POS. Q-Tec record their power ratings in an altogether more 'generous' fashion than the other PSU makers do, and so a 400w Q-Tec will always be less powerful and reliable than a 300w from a reputable maker. Replace it with an Enermax or another quality brand.

The 380w on tagan www.jes.de is great value. I got one last week and it a very high quality PSU. Highly reccomended.

If you want one off komplett the Fortron are good but I doubt they will be in stock for a while.
