My music folder and picture folder along with a few others have disappeared. The files are still on the hard disk cos when I’ve done a file search and there still there. Plus the also still play in my library in Media Player! The search also shows the location of them but I still can’t find them. Defraged the drive but still nothing.
    Any help????

If you're using Windows XP/2000, your My Music / My Pictures folders are located:

    C:\Documents and Settings\Your_Windows_Username\My Documents\My Pictures (or My Music) .

didn't work! the location its showing is:
    Documents and Settings\localservice\Username\My Documents\My Pictures
but when i go into Documents and Settings localservice isn't there.

I fixed the problem anyway buy doing a system restore and didn't lose anything . But thanks for the help Dun.

I seem to have the same problem... virus methinks..

Chkdsk ran a few times and stalled, windoze was freezing on start up (XP HE) and the loading window for XP was taking an unusually long time. When I did get back into my account the music, video and pictures folders had all been renamed but the files were still in there.. haven't had time to go back to it but system restore sounds ok, anyone know if this is viral for sure??

    You try virus scan?

Having trouble booting... Virus scan is a little ambitious

Had to format the drive and reinstall, so now I don't care so much.. thanks anyway.
