Its cheaply made for mass production and they can say "fastest gaming pc evar!!!!"

They always use a the lowest card in any give range for their pcs.

dell always cheapskate, they use the fx5200 in their pcs and their top end pc had a 9800 pro, which is still a great card but if you're spending 2 grand you might want something better,

    in conclusion dell = cheapskates

The x300 is to the new range of cards as the Geforce4mx was to the geforce4 range, crap. But it does the job (ish).

that x300se is like 80 euro barely better than the 5200 i reckon..

    "Graphics
Up to a 256MB PCI-Express ATI RadeonTM X800 XT video card " taken from the irish dell website. ( for the 8400 series + XPS fugly gaming boxes)

Yeah that looks like only a 9800 pro alright ;-)

Dell are cheap skates thats how they make money.

Not every person that buys form them needs a gfx card. i.e. yer average irish adult/eejit who only wants a pc for the web/email/dvd etc....

What would be the point of putting a x800xt in every pc at a huge cost if only a fraction of your customers wanted it or would use it.........

Well i would of thought for there ** ultimate gaming pc ** that they might have a better gfx card and not tack on the price of a x800 to there origional price of the pc aswell

well im a little out of date but that was the story a little while back

point im trying to get across is that they have used the same 5200 for over a year now and charging pretty much the same price, i know everything else is better but still...

also their ''gaming rig'' has a x300se which is by no means a fantastic card, i find them to be a very misleading company in that respect

the 8200 i think had a 9800 pro in it which they claimed to be a mutlimedia monster and easily managed everything you throw at it, which was not the case at all, someone who doesnt know too much about things could easily be tricked into pi$sing away 2 grand on a misleading product

how dos the x600 preform compared to other cards?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,317 ✭✭✭CombatCow

It's still pretty pants tbh, it will run farcry at 1024x764 in low deatil ok but anything higher will struggle  Doom3 wil be playable on low quality, maybe on medium aswell at the same res.

True dell are very misleading. You really need your wits about you when you are getting a system from them.

The reason dell get away with this is lack of competition. In the UK when they sell a gaming pc they mean a gaming pc: but thats because there are so many companies slitting each others throats for sales and it's a bigger market.

Here all we have are local companies and PC world.

At the end of the day the buck stops with the consumer. You don't pisss away 2 grand on a system without doing some research.

youre right, but i know more than 1 person who had more money than brains and bought a computer off them
