As far as i know, it ain't a 64bit cpu, but according to this, some models of CPU using that same socket type will be 64 bit
So what's the difference between them all? The Intel 915P and the SiS656 are the low end of the spectrum, offering both DDR and DDR2 support and PCI Express X16 graphics card slots. The 915G is the same as the 915P except it includes the new generation of Intel's Extreme Graphics processor (performance review of this graphics chip is already underway); this time around it's wired to use the PCI Express bus instead of the AGP/PCI bus. The 925X supports DDR2 only (no DDR) and adds support for Intel's answer to the AMD64 extension of the 32-bit bus, namely Extended Memory 64 Technology (EM64T).

EDIT: Just to clarify, its NOT the Intel64

i agree with the above. from what ive seen its not a 64bit processor. but it did say "Note - This CPU is only compatible with LGA775 motherboards." found that on "http://www.casetech.co.uk/product_info.php/products_id/1448"

Wow. 445 Eurons for the 3.6Ghz? They are giving them away free here at work to employees.

They are not, btw, 64-bit. They have the new fandangled Hyperthreading and loads of cache, but they are still 32 bit cpus.

The rumour is that these chips are 64 bit but they bios's are not allowing it, basically the features are locked. When Intel start shipping 64 bit processors with a compatible bios, you may be unable to unlock these features..

A similar thing happened with HT before it was released, no?

The Intel 64 P4 wont become available until early next year and I believe they will have a 2mb cache.

I woudlnt commit myself to that. But some people were surprised to find out that HT could be activated on their P4's that were bought before HT was even mentioned by Intel.

Negative Feedback. Now why would someone give me that. Was simply posting a rumour I read.

Afaik said "P4" will be sold as a Xeon, a highend workstation/server chip, which backs up Intels "64bit on the desktop is useless" stance. It will also finally allow some differentiation on the P4 - Xeon ranges.

Therefore I would state that as of right now and the next 6months the P4 proper is not and has no plans to be 64Bit. After that, who knows?
