Realistally a beginner or intermediate player couldnt ask for a better amp for sub 300 Euro Prices. 100 Watts is loud enough to Gig with and Fender make great amps. Loud as gods farts too!

Hmm I'm interested. But, and this is kinda crazy, but I don't like Fender. I don't know why. I guess it's just the look of their guitars ( I'd never buy a Fender guitar) but I suppose their amps would be good ( but then they have that horrible Fender logo on the front).

btw I know a lot of people will be thinking I'm mad now.

Meh, I don't like Fender either. Amps are too "twangy" for me.

    :P

just wondering does anyone know what the shipping is on stuff from thomann. not interested in the fender amp but am just curious about the shipping cause i reckon it would prob be cheaper to book a seat on the plane for the amp than to get it shipped over to this island.

no matter what you order on thomann the shipping is only 23 Euro. I recently ordered 3 Grands worth of studio equipment. shipping?? 23Euro for the whole lot

I've re-thunk my policy on Fender amps. Paladin, you said in another thread that Fender are good for clean sounds. What about distortion? I don't care if my amp has no clean channel - I just need a good distortion sound.

    yeah I know "re-thunk" isn't a word

Fender distortion is ok on their solid state amps, id recomend buying a decent pedal like a RAT or a Big Muff or something and using the sweet Clean Channel on the Amp

Find a Fender Roc Pro, it has a tube distortion channel which is amazingly sweet. It also has the famed Fender clean channel too. I picked one up in Buy & Sell a couple of years ago for £250. It's a nicer distortion sound than 99% of the pedals out there.

If you have a great clean channel on an amp you can always make a decent distortion out of it with a pedal. Just bear (bare?) in mind when buying it to add another €80 for a great distortion sound.

However, Fender distortion isnt bad. Its just not as pissed off as, ooh, Mesa amps :)

PS Doc J's advice is probably right. He has on occasion demonstrated a not inconsiderable knowledge of guitar nerdery :)

Well I have a Boss ME50 effects unit so distortion isn't really a problem. I guess I should just be looking for an amp with a good clean channel.

Damn, every time I decide on an amp then I change my mind again. Anyway I've already ordered this amp: http://www.netzmarkt.de/thomann/thoiw6_artikel-166923.html
