Norton Speed Disk vs XP Deframentation

Can anone tell me the difference between
    Norton Utilities Speed Disk
    XP Defragmentation

They are both reporting different results.
A kind of strange thing is that Speed Disk and the normal Windows XP Defragmentation utility seem to have very different definitions of what a fragmented file is... Speed Disk will say my drive is 1% fragmented, and Windows will say it's 25% fragmented.

Can they both be used together, or one before the other or what ?

i think you'll find that because norton speed disk not only defragments your data but arranges it differently on your drive for faster access that xp defrag sees this (compared to what it would do) altered file structure as fragmented where as speed disk has purposely arranged things this way does not. i bet if you use xp defrag again and then speed disk speed disk will spend ages rearranging it all again, and after that xp defrag will see it as 25% fragged.

depends which one you prefer, but personally, I'd use diskkeeper anyway. does a much better job altogether, and keeps things ticking over the whole time rather than having to take time out to do things yourself.

I have my system set to run defrag every night on my disks (3 physical devices). Works fine for me, and my disks are normally only up to 2% fragmented.
