    Hi,
I bought ISS pro evolution soccer 3 yesterday and it wont run properly.

    MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:

    Windows 98SE/ME/2000/XP

Intel Pentium III 800MHz or equivalent processor (Athlon/Duron/Celeron)

    128 MB RAM

    4X DVD-ROM Drive

NVIDIA GeForce 3 or ATI Radeon 8500 video card

    DirectX 8.1 compatible sound card

DirectX 8.1 or higher (included on Disc 1)

    5GB free hard disk space

    RECOMMENDED SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:

    Windows 2000/XP

    Intel Pentium IV 1.4GHz processor

    256 MB RAM

    8X DVD-ROM Drive

NVIDIA GeForce 4, ATI Radeon 9600, or higher

    DirectX 8.1 compatible sound card

DirectX 8.1 or higher (included on Disc 1)

    5GB free hard disk space

    SUPPORTED CHIPSETS:

    NVIDIA - GeForce FX (5900, 5800, 5600, 5200), GeForce4, GeForce3

    ATI - Radeon 9800, 9700, 9600, 9500, 9200, 9000, 8500

I have 256ram, 996MHZ, XP and a DVD rom drive. It's slow and the graphics are also not right. It's like its just using polygons and no colour on them. The players are white and stuff. How do I check what I need to play it properly? How do I know what graphics card and all that I have?

Any help and sollution is greatly appreciated:)
    Thanks

Hmm, why don't you already know what type of card you have?

Click your right mouse key anywhere on the desktop (the desktop is what you see when no other programs are open) and from that menu click Properties.

You'll then produce the dialog box "Display Properties".
Click on the top-right tab that says Settings.

Then click the low-right button that says Advanced.

This will produce a new dialog box. Click Adapter.

You'll now be able to see what type of graphics card you have and how much memory capacity the card has.

You might also want to check out the games website to see if there are any updates or troubleshooting tips or compatibility issues. But from the sounds of things you need a new GC.

If you don't know what graphic card you have there's a good chance it's not a very good one. In the game look for the graphics options and set everything to their lowest values and set the resolution to 640x480. If you can set colour depth to 16 bit instead of 32 bit that'll help too, you may have a choice of something like 640x480x32 or 640x480x16 or there may be a seperate choice for it.

Edited quote above is why its slow. Its recommends a better system than you have. Ive found that you really need to exceed the recommended specs to get a game to run well.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was your GFX card.

have ya tried new graphics card drivers? They always help.

Yeah, a friend of mine was finding doom3 utterly unplayable on his lowly nvidia fx5200 - but he hadn't updated his drivers since he bought the PC from Dell (bleh). An install of the latest detonators improved it a lot.

    Hi, thanks for replies!

I didn't know the graphics card because I bought the laptop 2nd hand.

I just checked it and its:
    Trident Video Accelerator CyberBlade-i1
    Chip Type: Trident Cyberblade-i1
    DAC Type: Integrated RAMDAC
    MEmory Size: 8mb
    Adapter String Trident Video Accelerator
    Bios Info: GL E6.00I(57.03)

is this not good enough? What would you suggest to get? Where will I get it?

Also, where would I get the drivers you mention?

    thanks.

your gfx is pants and it cannot be replaced.

Time to start looking at games you CAN run

It's a 8mb cards so it will play all the old stuff well. Time to crack out starcraft, diablo 1 + 2, fallout 1 + 2 and all the other gems in the budget section in Game.

cant be replaced? why? ISS is the only game I would play. I'm not a game person but this is more than a game. I only want to play this. Is there anything I can do?

It is built in, but i assume you can still add in a replacemnt card.

If you are pretty sure you won't be buying any graphics intensive games in the future, you could try buying a second hand Geforce3 or better. The radeon range is quite good too.

This card would be a good buy if you want a basic graphics card, able to play that game.

I guess what he means is that you can not upgrade the graphics card within your laptop.

Laptops are not very upgradagle, which is why you should look out in advance to see what spec it has.

What type of make/brand of laptop is it?

    Hi,
    It's a Compaq Evo N110 Laptop.

Is the above card suitable for a laptop or just a pc?

I don't plan on buying any more games except for ISS Pro Evo 4 in October. That will be all the gaming I will be doing. I'm sure that will be pretty much the same requirements.

Do you think 996mhz is enough to play it properly or would I need to upgrade that also? I put all the setting to the lowest quality and it's still very slow. Could it be my DVD drive too?

Your dvd drive speed shouldn't matter during gameplay, only when installing it or loading it.

I've never seen a laptop which you can upgrade the graphics card so you are probably stuck with buying a new one if you want to ply Pro Evo on it.

I've just looked up the specs of your laptop @ Compaq.com and the site says that your gfx card is an ATI RAGE LT Pro 4Mb SGRAM.

This I'm afraid is just not powerful enough to play the game you unfortunatly bought.

Worse is that I'm not aware of how you can upgrade your laptop as I always believed that most weren't modifiable by the end user, like a PC is. Unless anyone comes along and explains to you something different, you won't be able to play that game on that machine.

    Sorry !

Oops, never realised this was a laptop :p You won't be able to upgrade using these babies unfortunately.

    Your gfx is not upgradeable.
    your processor is not upgradable.

It's a laptop they are not upgradable bar memory and harddrive space.

Your gfx is PANTS. It willl only do for older games NOT newer ones.

Time to buy a console chuckles. It's the only way you will be playing ISS pro 4 anytime soon unless you decide to buy a new laptop/pc and a console is still a lot cheaper......

Anyhow why would you want to play a sports game on a pc? Consoles are nearly always bettered suited to sports games over a PC.
