I used partition magic 8 to convert my partitions to ntfs, I did it to my d: drive and it worked grand no restart needed or anything, then I tried it with my c: drive and it restarted said it was starting and then gave up some error, now my c: drive is empty but ntfs. I want to cry how do I get my stuff back? they are both primary partitions on the one harddrive, I cant start up with out a boot disk for obvious reasons, any advice?

    Been there, done that.

I myself ignored the advice I give to every client/customer: Backup your files before using any disk-partitioning software. Fortunately i managed to get most lost data off another PC.

Try Davory Recovery, Final Recovery, GetDataBack NTFS, Easy Recovery.

Good luck, you will need it.

DON"T INSTALL ANYTHING AT ALL ON THE BROKEN PARTITION!!!

Id then recommend Easy Recovery, i've used it a few times, and it is pretty reliable when it comes to recovery. Two thumbs up here. But you'll need the full version to actually recover any file....
