    Hi,

A friend found this last night and I think it's great!
He phoned his sister in Australia for 1.3 cent a minute!!

Have a look at the website and compare the prices to Eircom - no competition!

    http://www.telestunt.ie/

There has to be a catch somewhere like a massive set-up charge?
Being able to phone a Canadian or US fixed or mobile phone for the same price as a local call in Ireland looks too good to be true?

a couple of times and never been able to get really cheap calls.

Have tried mobiles in Oz and America and am always referred to the 33cent per min line.

Which is an improvement on the eircom price I admit, but still, to expensive to use.

Somepeople are never happy! Come on, 1.3c per min to a landline in Oz? That's damn good value - especially in Ireland!! Forget about calling the US/Oz mobiles...

    Well spotted.

Oh, ok then. Thanks for pointing that out.

Oh wait, the people I call don't have access to a landline so I have no choice.

And of course I ain't happy about having to pay 33c a minute. I'm broke!

But thanks for the comments anyway.

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

    Looks pretty cheap :)

Using skype myself. Rate from anywhere in the civilised world to anywhere else in the civilised world for 1.7 cents per minute

From anywhere in the world to another member anywhere in the world for free :D

    Eircom, I'll kill ya :ninja:

Note - this is VOIP, so puter with broadband needed

The sound quality is actually noticeably better than using landlines...

Yeah i've been using skype comp 2 comp with my friend in the LA. I've bb but she only has 56k so there was like 3/5 sec delay time, which wasn't that bad, considering it was free. I have talked to some mates that have bb to and i must agree i think it is better quality that a normal landline. I have tried the paid service yet, but i think i'll do it soon.

also quad_red calling a mobile in the states is the same as calling a landline. So u should be getting the same 1.3c per min price. i just checked on the site there and thats the price for mobiles too, so i dunno what number u r ringing. Check again it IS only 1.3c to phone a US mobile

I have been using it to call mobiles in the US for months now and I have never been referred to the 33 cent per minute line. The numbers of mobiles and landlines in the US are the same and it costs the same with most providers to call both US mobiles and landlines. The 1890 number works with US mobiles.

Argh Telestunt haven't updated their number in ages. It is now 1890 990 505 if anybody needs it.

    www.Telestunt.ie and www.Cheapchat.ie - similar prices - both good.
I ring an Oz mobile sometimes (about a tenner for an hour - 15c/min 24hrs a day - can't beat that! - though wouldn't want to be doint it too often! :) ) (85c/min on Eircom during the day!! = €51 !!!!)

Its a good idea to put the full number into the 'phonebook' on your home land-line phone handset if you can.

e.g. for me, I have the persons name stored with the number : 1520932904PP 0061(insert mobile number here). The 'P' in the stored number pauses, allows the service recording to start speaking, then dials the rest of the number. Check your phone handbook - its usually an extra key on the keypad but most people don't use it!

I put in 2 entries for a particular mobile, one using the telestunt number and the other using the cheapchat - I've found that if one is busy or taking ages to answer, the other works fine.

BTW, there are no 'hidden charges' or set up fees or the like. They make their money by connecting you for cheaper than the low prices you are paying (usually using a VOIP backbone connection or wholesale carrier). You'd be mad to just dial an international number from your normal landline! :)

Hi i was referring the site to someone when i checked out the site Telestunt.ie it suddenly becomes Cheapcalls.ie, you'll know when you click on the link.

Im just wondering why the change of name?? legal reasons or a dodgy move

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,338 ✭✭✭aphex™

Heh, they're always changing their name. As far as I see they cannot overcharge you anyway. So personally I use with confidence.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 438 ✭✭wasim21k

well if you think they can not over charge you then try to use skytell and in first message it will tell you 20 cent but when you see your bill it charge you 24 c.
1520666555 i used this number for long time but i hat that now i have other service found on boards which is cheaper then any other http://www.13434.ie/index2.php i dont think any one els can beet that. ;)

Mobiles 10c weekdays, 5c w/ends, not bad inc. landlines 0.0c.

But you have to sign up, but thats nothing. But people do get cynical about these things if theyre not used to getting bargains or not realise its that easy to do!

I noticed its only mob-mob & landline-landline, in which most of the calls are made to a mobile using the landline, but didnt have a good look, but will later.

    Hi
I've been using telestunt and then 1890 99 07 07 for some time and never found them overcharging, so it's good to go :)
