iexplore.exe Application Error when IE closes?

    Hello all,

This problem only surfaced since i arrived home from my girlfriend's house earlier. The mother was on the computer all night - god knows what spyware / adware she downloaded on some webpages.

Every time i close Internet Explorer - i get an Application Error message for iexplore.exe. Have looked it up online which told me to install this fix to do with Microsoft Money Maker (or something like that). That didn't work! Also found a fix which told me to alter a location in registry. That didn't work either!

Was thinking it's a faulty stick of RAM, but very doubtful!

Here's a picture of the error i've described.

    Any suggestions?

    Many thanks in advance.

First step: Have you run adaware/spybot?
Does IE exhibit any other abnormalities, i.e. weird homepages, constant pop-ups etc.?

I'd try and uninstall/reinstall with the latest version to sort it, if you're not hell bent on using IE try Mozilla Firefox or Opera instead.

I had a similar problem, and went for Mozilla for comfort. You're only really in denial though, as it's obvious something serious is wrong with IE. My problem came about from downloading the latest version of IE, and running it off Win98 (which is MUCH more reliable than XP generally), so maybe thats an issue. When I tried to reinstall IE8 it wouldn't let me, and when I tried to install an older version of IE, it wouldn't let me. So I reinstalled Windows twice, and then when that didn't work, gave up and bought a new PC. :(

That is a monumental overreaction to an IE error.
