When did Setanta Ireland obtain the rights to the Eircom League. According to their website they are showing St Pats vs Shamrock Rovers on Saturday 4th September at 11am.

IIRC, I remember reading somewhere that they got the rights to 10 matches per season. Perhaps someone can confirm that.

Is Setanta Sports a pay channel? I was in a friends house a few weeks ago and was watching the scottish football version of match of the day one morning, but then later that day the match was blue-screened.

Are all the live matches etc pay per view?

I see my question (partially) answered here: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=183500

Setanta is a pay channel on Sky Digital & free channel on ntl analogue & digital. They generally show some of the build-up/match preview on Sky, but then they jump back to being encrypted before a match starts.

No, none of them are PPV, you have to subscribe to the channel @ €12.99 per month.

In answer to this, TV3 hold the rights to show 5 matches per season, but its not exclusive, so another broadcaster (in this case Setanta) can broadcast more matches, if they want to. And it seems they are.
