Ok, so far Suitedaces has been more of a success more quickly then any of the lads involved would have thought. The question is, what would you want to see happen in the poker scene in Ireland that isnt here?

Personally I'd like to see more team events (like the Business League) and more leagues in general (ie: something that lasts longer then the single night its own like the BSOP).

Are there any tournies you'd like to see happen? Special rules, fun games, anything you think "that would be a laugh but I couldnt be arsed organising it!"

As for us, we are revamping the site (which was temporary just to get things going) and traveling over to the Guyshot guys to make contact and see how they have grown to be what they are. So we'll keep you posted on whats going on there (and hopefully win!).

    DeV.

Yes. Yes indeed. Pure Omaha, none of that two card game every second round. Tournament Omaha is great, plenty of ation, decisions etc etc. Fun for all the family.

Btw, boshman, who art thou (very young very clever Oscar im guessing)

Thats a good idea, but whats 2card omaha?

they occasionaly refer to it as texas or something....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,886 ✭✭✭Marq

same as texas but you have to use both of your hole cards.

2 Card? 6 Card. Now thats Yamaha. Something like that would be cool, play some 5 card stud Cinncinatti Kid style. And Razz. (Thats Lo only 7card stud)

I would definitely play low buy-in tournaments of Seven Card Stud, Razz and Lowball. Some California Draw would be good too. Seven Card Stud is a great (although expensive) cash game, and I'd be up for that too. Low Buy-In Omaha tournaments would be a great idea for the many people around here who play hold'em but don't know Omaha particularly well, and want to graduate on to the cash games in the fitz. Heads-up tournament is a tremendous suggestion in my opinion.

Also think a festival (perhaps in conjunction with one of the casinos) would be a brilliant idea.

Tournament where the game type changes every round of the table. So Texas first, then Omaha, then maybe 7-card stud, then lowball and then texas again...etc
Chance to learn new games and see some crazy betting when ppl get the rules mixed up!

    Ah, some H O R S E.
    H oldem
    O maha
    R azz
S tud, of the 7 cards variety
    E ights or Better Omaha

We'd need a dealer who'd be good at keeping track though, wouldn't like to piss all my chips away on the first hand of Stud under the impression we were still playing Razz!

A Blackjack tournie isn't a bad idea. they're very easy to organise - the winner is the person with the most chips after a pre-defined period of time. I recall a very drunken night in the Oxford Union last year when I played (and won) a free-entry blackjack tournament. My prize was a litre of vodka. Suited Aces take note - prizes such as this one are not a good idea in the long run.

Yeah, it should be a bottle of whiskey.

surely the optimum strategy with Blackjack would be to sit on your arse and not play at all? Its always in the houses favour (saving perhaps some remarkable 6-deck card counting?)

Yes but the house edge is so small around, .3-.4% AFAIK (given a player that plays perfectly), that in a reasonably sized field it could be expected that some players would beat the house over the short run. The trick for these players would be to make the correct judgement as to when to sit pat and hope the other successful players bust out.

No, the optimum strategy in Blackjack is knowing when to quit. Take last night for example. I made back the 50 I lost in the sit and go and 20-in (entry plus top-up). I should have gone home then but I was having fun so I wasted the rest on another sit and go and the rest on Blackjack.

In the long term the house will win, the trick is not to stay for the long term. :D
