OK, bit of a slip of the finger... While installing WXP prof onto my C: drive, Didn't take enough notice during setup, The install defaulted to My other drive (E: 160G WDCaviar) only 30% into the "Quick Format" did I notice the error of my ways and cancel it...
...Now when I try to explore the E: drive it says it isn't formatted (surprise surprise) Is there any way I can get any of the 100Gigs of data that was on it back??? I'm thinking that the data is still physically on the disk, but I have just wiped half of the drive index - am I right? Is there any S/w that can retrieve this data?? Have some backed up, but as usual, not all! :(

I'll try to be helpful ;)

I have heard of unformat programs. I can't vouch for how useful or good they are. My first port of call for stuff like that is usually download.com or tucows.com.

If it's /very/ important data, there are data recovery firms who specialise in stuff like that.

    Good luck!

Since you did a quick format all your data is still there. You just need a program to read it from your hdd.
