What's a Still Life Photo?

Now I know what a still life painting is, but is a still life photo of the same subject but as a photograph?
The reason why I ask is that entered a photo of flowers that are growing in the garden at a competition in the Still Life section. The other entrants in this category photographed a bunch of flowers in a vase. And in the competition I came second, which I'm very pleased about.
But I'm curious, what qualifies, in your view, as a Still Life Photo?

From my school art classes I remember a still life as an arrangement of objects into a scene, eg the ubiquitous bowl of fruit on a table with some other food items arranged around it. So I'd say your pic of flowers in the garden might not be viewed as a still life but more of a nature/flora shot.
