well I dunno about waterproof, but my canon powershot s30 has been out in its fair share of rain and it's still working. There aren't really any fiddly buttons; small slider for the zoom, ring for choosing shooting mode and a couple of buttons on the back. Best thing is it's an all aluminium body so it takes the knocks well. Mine has survived a few bad falls onto various surfaces that I'm quite sure would have killed lesser cameras outright. It's heavier than a plastic body camera obviously but thats the price we pay for a bit more sturdyness I suppose.

afaik, there is the s30, the s45 and the s50. Mine is 3.2MP, the top of the range being 5MP. Bloody good camera though (if only I could remember where I put the charger :( )

I had the Canon Powershot S30 till it got stolen, it had some bad falls and continued to work fine till it was stolen :(
I now have a Canon Powershot S50, more or less same layout and build and I ain't left it fall yet :)

The Pentax Optio 33WR and 43WR are two sturdy little cameras which are water and dust resistant. I have the 43WR and would recommend it.
-Picture quality is about average for a 4 mp camera
-It has an excellent movie mode (640x480 @30 fps with sound until memory card is full)
-It has an excellent macro mode (can take pics as close as 1 cm IIRC)
-it uses AA batteries and battery life is pretty good

hoy does that _look_ ugly and cheap, how do they think putting brright stickers on a camera will make it look of more quality?
