Dell 8200 HD crash

    hi,

    running WinXP SP 2 (NTFS) and my hard disk appears to have crashed.
    Upon boot I get a nice XP
    "UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME"
    I've tried booting from the windows cd to do a repair. No joy. Same as above
    I've tried booting from the windows resuce diskette. No joy. Same as above
    I've tried booting from a dos boot disk. I can get to dos and load cd software.
    Tried running win set up to do a repair. No joy. Same as above
    I've tried booting from a dos boot disk. I can get to dos and I was wondering does anyone know of any good software for checking a disk ?

    I think its probally gone though.

    Any ideas on a good replacement drive ? I'm lost without my pc :-(
