    hello there,

i dont know the ins and outs of RAM, but my dad has asked me to buy another 256Mb for his comp.
whats in it at the moment is 256Mb, in the BIOS it says its DDR266. i dont have a clue what the 266 means.
anyway, my question is, do i have to buy a certain type to match what's already in it, or can i just buy anything?
i was looking at this on komplett. price is a factor because i'm paying  (adding it onto a hard drive order i was making for myself).

its a P4 2.4GHz package job bought from Currys btw.

    cheers...

The 266 is the speed in mhz of the ram. 266mhz equals pc 2100. Its rather slow stuff but cheap. You can put in any speed ram into your machine if you wish as long as its compatable with the motherboard but there is no point sticking in faster ram as its forced to run at the speed of the slowest ram.

Top of the this page is the ram you should look at pc2100. Its fairly cheap to get some. Adata and OCZ are the brand I would recommend. You don't need any of that ecc error correction code stuff directly below that.
