Had another bash at the big one last night. Krattapopov won €200 credit but couldn't play last night so I paid the €70 and went 50/50 on any possible winnings. Probably wasn't the best idea cause I was on tilt from a Single Table Sat. KK in the BB just SB limps, I make raise to 400 he calls. 7 high flop he goes all-in, I can't get my chips in fast enough. He has a gutshot straight draw. Didn't even need to wait until the river 4 came on the turn to make his straight. Oh the pain, felt like an American Football punter kicking me full force in the balls. I actually felt dizzy, it was that bad.

On to the €270, few smokes get the head together. 90 starters top 18 get paid (money started at €400). 4 hands in there's already a player gone from the table. Joe made it 300 to go. Unknown raises to 700. Joe re-raises to 2000. Unknown thinks for even longer than Tom ever has. Unknown goes all-in, Joe calls an turns the Kings almost convinced that the other guy has the bullets. Unknown flips AQ!!!! I saw a few players nearly fall off their seats. The Kings stood up.

40 mins in I get pocket 10's just limp. About 5 limpers and then Player X raises to 1,300. Joe thinks for a while and folds. Player X had just lost a decent sized hand a few mins ago, I figured he was on the move like he always is with his 5,6 suited. I move all-in, Player X calls for a total of around 3,000. He turns over A,J which is even better than I though he'd have, was hoping for a smaller pocket pair. Flop come Q,K,x. Player X hits his J on the turn. Jammy bastard, he's always outdrawing me. River come an Ace, making him to pair but me the straight. Wow finally some luck for Davey, although I was ahead pre-flop to be fair.

Rest of the night was the usual mind fùck. Doubled up with Jacks vs. AK. 12,000 I had when the blinds were 400/800. Then I was moved to table 1. Bad table. The players weren't the problem. Bren was. Never gave me any cards, Bren your going to have to start working on dealing skills. I know cards aren't always nessecary but I didn't want to make any crazy moves. It was getting close to the money and one miss-step would have put me out. Down to 5000 still 3 players to go until the money. I'm UTG with the blinds about to fùck me. J,10 I know it wasn't ideal but i had to go with it. If I had waited until the next hand in the BB I could have gotten anything and couldn't afford to go down to 3,000. J,10 seemed like a good hand to lash it in on. Folded around to SB who's has a fairly decent stack. He calls and turns K,9 - was pissed off that he called with that, it was another 4000 to him out of a stack about 22,000. I see a jack on the the flop but agh there's a King too. That was it.

It was annoying going out so near to the money I stayed around for a while just to see what would have happen if I had taken the waiting approach. It was another 40 mins before the last 3 dropped. You could almost see the players with their fingers nails dug into the tables, they were clinging on for ages. Made me fell I made the right choice to go with the J,10 as it took so long to get to 18. Bring on next month, it's a hell of a game.

    Hard luck!

Them 30 Sats are such a waste! €30 for 800 units with blinds starting at 25 50. That gives you 16 chances to see the flop until your broke. To make a decent bet you have to bet nearly half your chips. What a terrible tournament. Usually you have X amount of chips with blinds X amount that give you 50-60 chances to see the flop before your broke. I wont be entering that again. And all you win is a ticket. If they had a better structure it would be much better.

The problem is they don't have the time to have a decent structure. They have to get as many of them going as possible in a limited space of time. The earlier you are the better the structure is.

My god Davey that STT was horrible to watch. I was playing on the same table and you werent by any stretch the only person put out by a bad beat. Thankfully for once I wasnt one of them, in fact I was the only one where the cards and odds played fair. My pairs stood up and my hands where I dominated them stayed that way. Pity I had to make a deal but I needed the cash (as yet again my life has sucked away my poker funds... isnt it supposed to be the other way around?!)

My heart was breaking for you with those Kings, you played them to perfection. I finally exacted a small bit of revenge on JP and took him out of it. I'm never rebuying in the freeroll again, I'm gonna save my cash and play the one table tournies for the ticket. Much better value for money.

When they play them on days other then the Big Thursday, the structure is fine (15-20 min blinds). You saw me play last night Davey, I didnt move a chip forward for ages. I was seat 10 and by the time the blinds came to me, two blokes were gone. You can sit and sit and wait for cards, you get at least 20 hands for 110, you should get a pair in that time and at the very least pick up the blinds with them. STT arent for the faint hearted but I've won a ton of them in there now. You just need to pick your moments and make a big move. You need some luck that you win the 50-50 races you will inevitably run into but then thats poker too!

Cormie, I cant believe you think the freeroll is better value. Ok its free, always a good thing, but last night it was 15 euro for 700 chips and topups were 15 for 1500. You could blow 90 notes there in no time and there was 45 people to beat to get one of 2-3 tickets max! I'd prefer to spend 30 and effectively end up on the final table. Ok theres only one ticket but you have a 1:10 shot at it!

I think I've heard it all now... cormie prefers a rebuy tournie to a freeze out!

Two "blood rush" hands at that table. "Hmm, 8h9h".... All In! "Ah, Q5os, Dev's probably got nuthin, Im all in, oh he's an ace.... and a king" Kudos Murphy, kudos :D

Agree with the freerolls, although I would have been well into playing that tourney last night. Won my satelitte stakes back at "The (Davey) Devils" game though.

Where did you read I prefer freerolls? Freerolls are terrible too. I also still prefer freezeouts;)

I don't remember saying anything your replying to me with? haha.

It did feel nice to take a look down at my cards for the first time after you announced all in and see a King of diamonds and flicking the corner of the other one to see the Ace! The hand played itself though I lost a few pounds sweating the turns and rivers on a couple of my hands, particularly those 4's.

It was funny the way I was calling for cards as a spectator and they'd hit. I dont know how many times I called a single out (like the 4 for daveys opponent) and it came! Freaky! I think maybe I was "earthing" my bad luck that way!

Or calling my deuce on the river when I was all in with 72os against the Devil! :o

Po'Kar approves of people who bet all-in with 72o. They are his favoured ones.

hard luck davey on not getting in the money, i think i would have preferred if you had have gone out in 50th!!!! ;)

dev made the right decision in not rebuying and the topping up in the freeroll, for the same amount of money you walked away with 110 or so credit?!

playing so little poker myself at the moment i forget how much fun it can be, the highlight of my night was getting pocket 7's and just calling.... bb checks, flop comes 7,7,3. bb raises 300 i just call, bren calls, turn is x card, bb checks, i check, bren checks, river is x card again, bb checks i bet 300 to try and milk them!! and only bren had the guts to call with a 3. probably not the biggest pot i won all night but by far the most relaxing hand of the evening!
