I downloaded the original HL there the other day, one very annoying thing I noticed was that whenever I entered a new area it would download the content for that area. This took a considerable amount of time, enough to be annoying and spoil the atmosphere. Will this be the case with HL 2 or can I choose to install it all in one go?

If anyone knows the answer, please enlighten me. Thanks!

afaik u can download the game now or 'preload' it on your computer, its encrypted so it can't be played, so when they decide to release it , you can buy a code/key and then be able to play - thats what im gathering from the site anyway

giblet, so the code which came with Ati 9800 Pro, is entered to gain access ... Do they send you a copy then, no ?
Orignal deal, and what they told ye to do was, send em copy of receipt/code, the actual barcode on box etc ..., and they send you a copy.
Which I did - strange no email from them in regards to it then.

So... lemme get this straight; Valve has given anyone who wants it an encrypted version of HL2, so that it someone can create a keygen for the activation code? Sweeet.

The code will either look like ******-**-****-**-** or *****-*****-******-******-****

its only 1 gb, out of probably 3 which the final game will be. Theyre not that stupid(actually they are..but not in this case!)

No you won't, the gcfs contain textures and skins only for the moment.

Considering it is a beta and is technically free this wont be frowned up on I think. Just in case, search google, there is work arounds.

It is indeed frowned upon I know of two people who achieved the beta without having either a cz cdkey or ati voucher and both their steam accounts were cancelled.
