Orderd all the parts for my brothers ps a while ago, one of the parts was a Abit NF7-S V2.0.
Mailed them how long it would be, ram out of stock fair enough i'll wait.
Mailed again when i seen it was back in stock, i'm sorry we dont have you mobo anymore can i offer you this Abit NF7-S2
as i was in work i just mailed back yes hurry and send it. this was wednesday.
Just after doing some research and the board is getting nothing but negative coments made about it.
I assumed it was the same or similar to the NF7-S V2.0.
Should i mail them telling them i do want the original board or forget about it and hope it works fine?

i would return it as the one they are trying to give you has much more limited overclocking capability according to some people round here cant remember the link...

Yeah i read on the net that its pretty much a crap board, budget we'll say.
I dont think my brother wants to oc just yet but maybe in the future he will, or i might do it without him knowing.
Send them an e-mail anyway so we'll see tomorrow what they say

The main problem is it doesent have as good sound, it doesent allow CAS 2 timings and it doesent allow multiplier changes.

All the XP chips (except mobiles) are locked so the multiplier thing wont effect you, ie you will be able to overclock as normal with the FSB. The CAS 2 thing depends on what Ram you get, if its cheaper Ram then that wont be as much of a problem either as it will run at 2.5, the sound isint as good thats the only thing after that really..........

So how important are those items to you? Ie whats your setup going to be (RAM / CPU)?

i got him a xp 2500 and mushkin ram, cant remember the exact one.
i might swap my ram (cheap, pny) for his if it's giving problems.
Sound was important to him, i think he wanted a coaxial out but analogue will do him just as good have a sb live lying around anyway.
So fsb is still clockable but multi isn't, not as bad as i taught then
    Thanks

Decided to mail them that i wasn't happy that they sugested such a bad board as replacement, got a reply today.
I can rma it back to them and change it for a different board, going to leave it up to my brother to decided if it's going back or not.
