qt apps in a GNOME environment

I decided some time ago to use GNOME as my desktop environment, for various reasons of varying (un)importance. I've installed QCad, and while it works perfectly it looks kinda crap.

The question is: how do I make a qt-based application look OK in a GNOME environment? I would imagine it's a question of installing a decent widget theme somewhere, but I'm at a loss as to how to go about it. Has anyone done this? Any pointers?

It would be nice if the widget set could match the GNOME environment, but that's not the priority - I just want it to not look crap.

hehe, I know what you mean, gtk looks ugly too, unfortunately, I dont have an answer, sorry. I stick to sdl as much as possible. Interesting question though, I'd like to know the answer too ;)

if your a non-kde user running (as your normal user)

    qtconfig

and setting up your theme the way you like it should do, I really like plastik set with the same white background colour as industrial.

for gtk1 apps use gtk-switch to pick a nicer theme!

Bingo! Thanks slarti, that's exactly what I'm looking for. Mind you, I don't seem to have the plastik widget set installed, and I'm not sure how to get it from Portage. Most importantly, it's using an anti-aliased font, which improves it no end.

not sure because I'm a kde addict, but maybe a minimal build of 'kdeartwork' would give you plastik, worth a shot!

Hm. "emerge -pv kdeartwork" basically wants to install all of KDE, so I think I can live with it as it is. Thanks again.
