Just wondering anybody use the Dell flat screens for gaming? they have a refresh rate of 25m\s and from what I have read about the place that seems pretty much on the limit for gaming purposes.

So thus my question : I am wondering has anybody experienced any ghosting problems with them when gaming?

any info would be of g8 help

    Thanks

25ms can go either way. the response time alone doesn't mean everything, it's best to read reviews or better still try it out if you can.

Which Dell screen exactly are we talking about? Some are okay, some are bad (especially the older ones) and some are great (like the new Dell 2001FP, which does have 16ms response time though).

Used an 18" Dell one before and it seemed okay (not as good as my own screen which isn't Dell, but ghosting wasn't too bad).

Ghosting wasn't bad as in you did experience some ghosting?

it would just be the standard dell 17inch analogue flat panel...

A little bit yeah, especially on analog (VGA), the DVI wasn't so bad but VGA wasn't great. Even on the new 2001FP (20") ghosting is apparant on the VGA connection.

Find out what exact model it is and do a search for some reviews, that should give more of an indication.

Don't even think about using the vga connection for the 2001fp. Stick with the DVI.

I have one and its fantastic... running at 1600x1200. Doom 3 also looks great on it.

Stick with the dvi for anything - it should always provide a better picture on a TFT than a VGA connection.

Exactly. VGA is only there so you can use the monitor if you have no DVI output at all, never use it if you have DVI available. It's handy for a second input, say if you have a file server or something, you can hook that up and switch inputs when you need to.

i have 1703fp and it is great. marginal ghosting. vga is as good as dvi. costs loads though, and better value for money elsewhere
