Got some mates visiting me, and planning to go to Galway either tomorrow (Friday)-night or Saturday night.

Best pubs to go to, live music, any concerts on?

There's covers bands a plenty on the weekends in the Cellar, Kings Head and Cuba. Doesn't matter which one, they all play the same tunes with the sole variation being they each have a "special move" in an "ironic" 80s cover (My Sharona etc).

Live music or some form or another can be found in the Roisin Dubh any night of the week. This varies from perennial Irish tryhards (The 4 of Us, anyone?) to someone who was the session banjo player for the Crazy World of Arthur Brown.

With regards clubs. It really depends on what you're looking for. If you want chart music and oompa loompa tanned identikit females, then it's the torpor of CPs or Karma for you. If you're into dance music, I believe the GPO is where the cool kids hang.

Galway's a nice place to visit apparently. I live here so I'm a tad jaded as you can see...

Firstly, yer going the wrong direction this weekend! If I had anyone visiting me I'd be dragging them to the Fleadh in Clonmel this weekend.

If your going to Galway this weekend theres the typical "oopa loompa" femal clubs as Robbo refered to but theres also a few other cool places. The Crane bar or Tig Colis usually have great athmosphere at the weekends. Taffes will be good craic also.

Or you could come down, Sit in the Living Room/Buscar Brownes etc and move onto Cp's/Halo/Karma. But that would be like you never left whatever the luminious lights/glass floors pub/nightclub you drink in at home.

Friday night I would recommend Shake downstairs in Cuba bar but even that has been turned into a glass floors/luminous lights place in recent times!

Cuba is gone and is now Bar 903 (I think)

But my favourite would be the Quays, for good mix of music, and always hoping. If you fancy a bit of trad go across the street to the Spanish Arch

    Have fun :D

Club Cuba is still there, it's only the bar that has changed.
