    Hi
Maybe someone can help me, I'm heading to New York next week for a few days, while I have been there before and have seen all the usual sights I'm not sure where the good nightlife is. Has anyone any recommendations for good bars in Manhattan?

    Thanks in Advance

    BM

    Hey,
I was there in January and if ya want a great night/day, go to Foley's NY. It's just opposite the entrance to the Empire State Building. It's really cool and friendly and lovely people hang out there!

oh Christ, what's the name of the "oldest pub in NY"?
I can't remember the name of it.......

You can only buy two beers at a time. They have Dark & Light and you can have any combination of either.
Me and two mates spent 500 bucks in there one day after we popped in for a 'quick' sandwich before me went to a museum. Didn't make it out again.

Are you looking to only go to Irish pubs in NY?

No not at all , Anywhere that's a bit of craic to be honest. Have been told of a place called Bungalow 8, but seemingly it's pretty difficult to get into but I'm there mid-week when its seemingly easier, have been told it's pretty cool but don't know if I could be ar*ed "trying" to get in somewhere just want somewhere good to get fairly pissed :D

Sounds like you might be thinking of McSorley's (which is on 7th near 2nd/3rd Avenue if I remember right?)

I haven't been there (or in NY!) in years, but it certainly was a great place back then. Don't know if it still is the same - I heard somewhere it had got very touristy.

    That's the one!
Got into a boatrace with these guys from some college.
Each had to drink two beers and then the next in line had too etc etc.
Three of us beat the other seven (although it was close)
Then we thought trying it with 4 beers each would be a good idea. I was soaked in beer when I finally stumbled out of there.
That was a fun day out.

Excellant pub! Love the forthy beer!!!

if you're looking for a good night go to the village idiot or hogs & heffers - both in the meat packing district - well worth the trip!

    Puck fair isnt bad either!

Oh yeah, Hogs & Heffers. I vaguely remember girls dancing on the bar and a Mack Truck sign but that's about all.
