    Hi everyone ;)

i know exactly what needs to be deleted'' games..mainly, i have regcleaner and another one but there not picking them up.

i have 461 problems with registary, i dont know all of them but some i do. its a bit dodgy because i have no backup yet. like i said i know exactly which needs to be deleted.

have you any thoughts on that.

    thanks for your time :)

Well i'd imagine if your careful the risk should be minimal.
I've made numerous trips into my registry; and always came out mission accomplished and no worse for ware.
Given that your primarily targetting game keys; again the chances of screwing up your system should be pretty negible.
If this is your first time; remember time, caution and a clear head should see your through.
I'm pretty comfortable dealing with the Windows registry and not just with games ;) Experience will grant you that

Tip: export your current registry before tinkering around with it. Even it's currently doggy; it'll give you the chance to pull out a recovery should anything cataclysmic befall your PC during registry ops ;)

Remember the Registy is primarily designed for COPY-PROTECTION, it's main puropse is to stop you moving the OS to another computer, otherwise it would be a much simplier and more forgiving structure.

Bearing that in mind if you make a mistake and delete the wrong key then it's GAME OVER even a reinstall over the top won't fix some registry problems , you just reinherit them, in which case you'll have to do a clean install and reinstall all the apps again.

First make a backup copy of the registry, if you don't have windows 95/98 then you should also backup windows. You should also be prepared to recover / rebuild windows if it can't boot up again. Unlikley but..

The main effect of spurious registry setting is to slightly slow down programs starting up since they have to scan ALL of the reg for their settings, other than that they are ignored.
