Cant get all SKY channels in Germany (RTE,TV3)

Hi - A friend of mine lives in Southern Germany (Crailsheim) and has problems receiving all of the SKY channels. He has an Irish Card and pays the 28 Euro Family subscription.
The problem arises in particular with the Irish channels RTE,TV3 and TG4.
An error appears on the screen saying "Not receiving Satellite Signal", but the EPG is perfectly up to date. He fails to get the Irish Channels around 90% of the time, but whats even weirder is that he can get some English channels such as LivingTV, Paramount but NOT LivingTV+1 and Paramount+1..!

Any ideas as to what may be wrong..?

    Is the box at fault..?
Is the Sat dish not pointed correctly..?
Is he just too far south in Germany to be guarenteed of picking up SKY..?

    Ant.

diffrent channels on the sky system are transmitted from diffrent transponders on diffrent satellites in a cluster. each transponder has a diffrent foot print. germany may be out of reach of certin transponders.

    check out for transponer footprints

I have an 80 cm dish in Stuttgart (just over 100 km from Crailsheim) and have no probs with the Irish channels. I reckon its his dish, as the Irish channels are on Astra 2D with the tighter footprint.

Hi, he has a one 1M dish (100 cms) so it should be big enough to pick up Astra 2D. Its more than likely misaligned.
Any ideas on how easy it is to to align it correctly..?

    Ant.

    Kick it a few times?

Get someone who knows what they are doing to align it would be the best bet if you friend is not technically minded.
