    Hello to all,

Just wonder what you all reckon I should do!

I play some online poker (party poker) at the moment, but want to start playing in a card club...

Saw on the Fitz website that they are starting a poker school, and was thinking about joining it, just to get into the swing on things in the Fitz!

Just looking for some of your sound advice as to whether I should go to the poker school or just go on a thursday night, as most of you have said you did when starting??!!

None of my mates are into poker (wrecks my head!) and I want to have a buzz at a few games, so also wondering whether I should try drag someone along, or how things work there!!...

Would appreciate some answers as I was goin to pay the deposit before the end of the week, if at all!!...

    Thanks, looking forward to hearing..

I did the poker school and I really enjoyed it. I couldn't honestly tell you if it did me any good. I think on balance it did, I learned a lot of good information. The material is quite useful but I think most of it is available on the web.

You might also want to consider the online poker school. There is a link to it in the links thread. I don't know anyone who has done it but apparently it is really good. You will notice there are some really big names involved. You pay a monthly subscription for it rather than a chunk up front. Check it out before you commit.

    Thanks for your reply mate...
Still undecided whether to go or not...
a couple of people have said to go to the freeroll's on Thursday's and / or Sunday's at 6pm....It is 6pm both days, isnt it?

Say that site you mentioned the other day, but as you know yourself, with a bit of a search on the net, you can just about always find what u need...

Did many people do the Poker school when you went to it??..

    Cheers...

Whats the latest the single table satellites start at tommorrow. I cant remember from the last time, it was all a blur! Gotta see a man about a house and wont be able to make it in till after 7.30.

They run up to about 9:30 so I guess 8-8:30 will be the last but they are often lotteries of blinds-up-every-hand/player/5mins sort of games.

    http://forums.cardplayer.com/viewtopic.php?t=2800

Was browsing the cardplayer forums for hilarity (includes such gems as 'AK is trash' and advice on why it's pointless raising preflop in limit because the fish call with anything) and saw this.

Have you heard of this guy? Was he the one running this poker school in the Fitz?

    Yup.

Please note. commenting on someones abilities as they relate to their job is defamation and can be taken very seriously. I'm watching this thread like a hawk because I've rarely heard any poker players praise any other poker players abilities....

great teacher im told but had a quick look at his book, apparently if you get aces you should go all in preflop. KK or QQ raise half your stack and JJ 1010 1/3rd of your stack. there are some other very strange views in there, anyway I think reble2 gets it spot on. Not that id go for that whole defamation thing. Anyway he has THE worst poker ettiquette of anyone ive ever seen, including the fella on monday night

One thing to note. Going into a freeroll in the Fitz is a good way to learn the way to play at brick and mortar casino not a good way to learn good play.
