Hicham El Guerrouj wins a scintillating men's 1500m.

Moroccan Hicham El Guerrouj has finally won his Olympic Gold medal in the men's 1500m. I'm absolutely delighted for him this title has eluded him for so long and just to see his reaction afterwards was fantastic. Bernard Lagat of Kenya almost looked to have him beaten in the final stages but El Guerrouj held on to win it.

A great race. What a finish! Literally a race to the line. Look too, where the bronze medallist came from on the last lap. He was flying. Everyone seemed happy that El Guerrouj won. There seemed to be great comradery at the end as they congratulated each other.
