Eircom introduces "Free Trial" (2 months)

According to the latest eircom tarriffs, eircom are now offering an actual "Free Trial" where you can cancel, without cost, within 2 calendar months of being connected to eircom DSL.

(This compares to a 3 month free trial, plus one extra month free, from both IOL and UTV. Though IOL will apparently charge you a €90 connection fee in your 4th month if you decide to stay with them, which strikes me as a bit of an incentive for people to quit).

Eircom are also offering a "Free connection, free two months broadband" promotion, and it's not obvious why there are two overlapping promotions being offered.

    I think that's UTV actually. And it's €99 - http://u.tv/utvclicksilver/

Can't find anything on the IOL BB site about the charge. If there is they should be displaying it: http://www.iol.ie/broadband/bb_offer.htm?affID=IrelandOfflineIsWatchingYOU

Amazingly the offer can be linked , it is Here

The T&C's are at the bottom. The offer STARTS in a fortnight on the 7th of September.
eircom broadband 2 month free trial terms and conditions
    * Promotional dates are from 7th September to 30th November inclusive for connections.
    * You do not have a contract with eircom until after the two-month free trial.
    * You get two months rental free irrespective of when you signed up within the promotional period.
    * You can cease the service at any point during the 2 month free trial period without incurring the early cease charge.
    * Customers (or agents acting for the customer) must complete details on http://www.eircom.ie/broadbandtrial to opt out of the free trial.
    * Your service will be cancelled within 1 day of you requesting to opt-out of the free trial.
    * In the event of a cease request, eircom will contact you to request that the modem kit is returned within 14 days. Failure to return the modem kit will result in eircom charging you a non-return of: Modem €145.20 (inc VAT) or € 120 (ex VAT.)
    * If you do not wish to retain the service after the two-month free trial period, you must give us your details in our http://www.eircom.ie/broadbandtrial form to opt-out before the end of the trial. Otherwise you will automatically signed up to a 12-month minimum contract period.
    * Usage of the service after the two-month free trial is deemed acceptance of the terms & conditions.
    * If you require a technician call out after attempting to self install the broadband service, you will incur a once-off charge of € 99 (inc VAT)/ €81.81 (ex VAT).
    * Telephone lines which previously availed of summer surf promotions are not eligible for the 2 month FREE trial promotion.
    * If the customer is migrating from ISDN they will incur a once-off connection charge of €25.00 (inc VAT) / €20.65 (ex. VAT.)
    * If you migrate from ISDN and wish to migrate back to ISDN after the trial period, the lead time of standard hi-seed / ISDN migrations will apply, You will be liable for the ISDN connection charge.
    * This offer applies to self-install orders only on eircom broadband home starter / home plus and business starter. Customers migrating from ISDN + customers with monitored alarms are also eligible.

You do not have a contract during the trial but you must go to this POPUP window Here to explicitly cancel within the 2 months . POPUP windows will not work for those unfortunates who have installed SP2 over their spanking new BB connections , expect grief and gnashing of tooths and dentures nationwide .

You then send Eircom the modem within 2 weeks and thats that.

By Eircom standards it is a remarkably strings free jolly but beware the popup stopper effect :D .Maybe I'm optimistic that the modem will be sent out and the line activated in a timely manner, say less than 2 months.

I actually checked the UTV page before I posted it, and stopped when I got to NO SETUP CHARGE.

I suppose that technically, there is no setup charge to get the free trial.......

It's right there on the IOL Broadband Pricing page.

Of course it will - it's not in eircoms intretest to delay connections for their own customers, only their competitors customers.
