Looking to replace the pickups on my squire strat.

Anyone know anything about doing this or want to recommend a good set of pickups?

It would want to be a very very good squire to bother with the expense of new pickups. However ignoring that issue, I recently bought a Seymore Duncan Hotrail (humbucker pickup in single coil size for strats) and its fantastic. Adds a huge deep growl sound to my strat that was sorely missing. Its €85 on thomann atm.

Check out seymore duncans website though for good pickups for strats.

Yeah, Seymour Duncan's are great. You can get them pretty cheap here: http://www.guitarelectronics.com.

TBH, a new guitar might be a better route to go down. Most shops will take the Squire for a decent trade in price and you can spend your pickup money (which should be around ?300 anyway) on a nice new guitar.

Check here for a deal http://www.chrisguitars.com/parts.html

Pretty much any 3rd party pickup you get will be an upgrade on your Squire stock set. However, what sound are you looking for? If you want to keep the strat sound, just make it better, then don't get hotrails whatever you do.

Ya hotrails are certainly not a strat sound. Got extra hot Tex Mex specials on the bridge of my strat. Would highly recommend them for a strat sound.

The hotrails are a much heavier deep sound than standard strat single coils.
