junior IT person is a bit cheeky with that spec. thats more middle sys admin.

    cheek!
    That's what I was thinking... ;)

    Not cheeky at all!

Someone with no experience in the industry could take this role on.

Its a hands on role, a great opportunity for anyone trying to get a leg up in the industry.

Initially it will be doing simple support - like, when someones PC breaks down, fix it for them etc. There will be a few tasks set out, such as getting a Domain controller up and running etc.

It's a small company at the moment, but growing.... rapidly.
So as I said great opportunity for someone who wants to get into this industry.

    Please pm your cv's!

PS - It's permanent, but there will be an initial 3 month trial period

No offence but you are asking for trouble if you expect someone with no
experience to be able to take over firewall admin, network instrastructure, build domain controllers etc..

Id advise you to be looking for someone with at least 2- 3 years experience
and who can actively contribute to higher level IT stuff and enable the
company's IT infrastructure to grow with the company and a novice is not going
to be able to do that...

Previous experience is worth its weight in gold...

    Look guys,

I know exactly what is involved. If someone with any ounce of cop on or interest in computers that wants a chance to better themselves, can work on their own initiative and doesn't mind pressure.... they can handle this.

Lets not make the job bigger than it is.

Its a junior position - anyone that can read up on PC's, or knows where to look, will be able to handle this job.

So far the Secretary has handled EVERYTHING in their it department......................

    Chaps, do me a favour.
This person has put up a post. Either ask a question, or post something relevant. I am assuming none of you know this company and have no idea if this position is junior or not in relation to the company.
Try to think outside the box of your own experience.

But jesus, stop haggling like a bunch of old crones over bloody semantics in posts!

Sounds like a fantastic opportunity for a cert or diploma grad who wants to get into the workplace.

I'd be interested in applying for the job but I have to repeat 5 subjects of my final degree year (Electronic Eng). Would there be any chance that there might be part-time availability.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,419 ✭✭✭nadir

Yup, I just applied. Ive been trying to get into this area for quite some time now.

No comment on the salary. However, if you don't have the intervieving skills to weed out the bull****ters on this one - you face big trouble in the future. Htf to get em to leave when you realise your mistake?

To encourage em to leave is the only option for most small companies : sigh!

Would really love to try out this job! ;) I just PMd my C.V. It would be great if you could send me on somemore details. :)

I emailed my CV did it go through??

Would an electronic Engineer even be worth applying for it? Over qualified etc. etc

I sent you my cv a few days ago and haven't heard anything.
Any chance of a quick mail back to those that you've received mails from?

Sounds like monkey work, and 24K would be good money for it. Also, it would look great on a CV for anyone trying to get their foot in the door of IT (quite a few, judging from the amount of posts on this board on the topic).

Hell, I'd almost go for it myself!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,452 ✭✭✭tomED

    All CV's have been forwarded.

I won't be replying to anyone as it has nothing to do with me! I don't think they will reply soon either because of the volume of applicants for the job.
