Disconnecting phone line

I had sky digital installed years ago, before you had to have the box connected to the telephone line. Over a year ago I got a mirror sub. Sky insisted that the original box would have to be connected to the telephone line to receive this.
I have now cancelled my extra subscription and disconnected the telephone line from the extra box. I would like to know if I am still under obligation to keep the original box connected to the telephone line.
I don't particularly want to ring sky to ask them so I would be really grateful to anyone here who could let me know.

    No, rip it out!
You had to have the 2 boxes connected for SKY to make sure they were both at the same address, that is no longer a concern and you have long ago finished your inital contract period so they have no grounds to insist you keep the phone connection.

My 1 year contract is now up, but I had it connected to my phoneline for 1 week out of the 52 with no problems. I ordered a couple of Box Office items, so just reconnected when ordering and the disconnented again after.

I never had any problems with Sky being disconnented from the phoneline.

Probably because they got BoxOffice orders from it. They are much more strict on the mirror subscription than on initial connections.
