Drum Practice

I recently fullfiilled one of my ambitions and bought a drum kit - WOOOOOOT :p:p:p I went for a Rhythm Traveller to minimise noise but I'm getting bored just playing with the muffle heads on!!! My bro reckons that we should get one of them wooden barnashed things and soundproof it by putting loads of carpet in it now i've been looking soundproofing up online and it says that this won't work. Basically I'd like to be able to play without the muffle heads maybe once or twice a week without having to spend a fortune. I live in a terraced house where we can hear our neighbours sneeze so I don't think I'll be able to do it in my house..Any suggestions? Also is the rhythem traveller ok to practice on if I get lessons?

should be cool for learning on and stuff. The shed thing is a decent idea, and you can soundproof it to a certain extent. As long as you stop playing before say 8pm your neighbours shouldnt really care, its not against the law either.
Buy some plaster board and create another inside wall with a few inches of air between the original wall and the new one, then put carpet on the new wall, should take care of a lot of the noise.

I had the same problem, I live in a semi-detatched house and the acoustic kit was far too loud, no matter what time of day! So i bought a set of roland V-Drums second hand in the buy and sell, fantastic things, love them, plus they sound fantastic in my home recording setup!
