West Cork racism

I have some friends in West Cork. They weren't born in Ireland (the parents, that is), but immigrated to farm when their children were young. They tell me hair-raising tales of racism, which they say is also experienced by other foreigners who've moved in there. Anyone else?

It's not just foreigners. Cork people don't like anyone who is not from the Republic of Cork. My mother is from Cork, and all of my Cork relations used to (and still do) give me an awful time about being a Jackeen.:D

yea its like hick vile down there

Racism is in all of irish society from dublin to the country side so its unfair to brand an area worse than others especially without proof

The tourism board did a great job convincing everyone the place is full of open minded friendly people, didn't it? I am occasionally disgusted to be Irish when I see how pathetically ignorant and thoroughly evil so many of us are.
