    LADIES & GENTLEMEN

I hereby request two tickets for the All Ireland Hurling Final. If you are in a county other than Cork or Kilkenny, and have access to surplus tickets, then I ask you to please consider this humble corkman for receipt of said tickets. I am asking so early as so you will engrave this post into your memory when the time comes :)

I will pay you face value for them (other "favours" are not out of the question)

Sorry boys, but this Dub - just back from Croke Park getting his ticket for tomorrow's football semi-final - will be finding it hard enough to get one for himself, without trying to get some for others.

if u ask for one you'd probably get it then once they give u the 1st ask for a 2nd in a round about nicey pie way. I'll keep ye in mind if anything crosses my path... though Cork usually gets most of em!! Why dont u join a local club in future ur more than 98% guaranteed ul get a ticeidi

    Tough luck lads.

If ye were into yer hurling ye would be part of a club down by the Lee and would have access to tickets.

I on the other hand have two lovely tickets for the hogan - ah sweet.

My advice is to enter as many draws/raffles etc where there are tickets as prizes...

In a club, you are certainly not 98% guaranteed to get a ticket. All-Ireland Final tickets are like gold dust. Each club only gets a few, not near enough for all the members. Some clubs just raffle them. If 98% of GAA members got tickets, Croke Park wouldn't have a hope of holding even a fraction of them. You'd have to be very well in with some of the key people in the club to have a chance of getting one. It would be closer to being only 2% sure of getting one that 2% sure of not doing so for an ordinary member.

The thing that pisses me off is that it is a lot harder to get tickets for All-Ireland Finals now with the increased Croke Park capacity than it was before when it held a lot less.
I seem to remember GAA top brass saying around the time of the start of the redevelopment that when it was finished the higher capacity of Croker would result in more people being able to see matches (ie All-Ireland Finals I presume?).
This certainly has not been the case.
Jesus,I remember in 1990 when Cork won the double I had no problem getting tickets for both finals, at a time when the capacity was a mere 64,000.
Tickets were a lot more in demand too than they are for this years final.
Now with a capacity of 80,000,I haven't a snowballs chance in hell of getting my hands on one!
    It just doesn't make sense.

In fairness Lukin it does hold more people so more people get to watch the matches. What annoys me is those that have been going all year (even those from Cork or Kilkenny - not that there's a huge amount of those :)) may not get a ticket.

Well it is impossible to cater for everyone. Everyone has a reason why they should get one.

Since the increased TV coverage came in, there is a higher profile, so more people are interested in seeing games. Anyway, it doesn't matter how big it is, there are always people looking for tickets!

The finals always get the fair weather supporters out.

Also every county board gets tickets - along with sponsors, ladies football, camóige and every branch of the GAA.
