    folks

with utility bills going through the roof, i think putting a solar panel there would save alot of pennys.... :)

with austria having about the same annual sunlight per annum as ireland, and having a high concentration of houses using solar panels, why dont the irish government buck up and offer a deal with building providers, homes and busineses to install solar panels?

about €3k would get a solar house up and running, it would pay for itself in no time.

has anyone seen solar roofs around ireland?

you can also get free heating 6 months of the year with a similar method, solar tubes or something,.

a company in norn irl does this,

btw, this stuff was on our house a while ago.

my brother is making a house, and has no notion of bothering with this 'craic', but he will be paying sky high prices for oil and stuff in years to come.

also, does anyone know of timer walls inside cost much more than the usual solid walls?

    chow

Solar hasn't taken off, because the installation is perceived (rightly or wrongly) as expensive.

Heat pumps (a reverse refrigerator) and underfloor heating have become popular.

Similar price, but longer ordering time and less fitting time / mess.
