swapped for a bottle of ballygowan ;)

My favourite Forlan memory was against Juve in the friendly last year. Mix up in the defence - keeper & defenders leave it for each other, he nips in btw them, rounds the keeper & slices it wide from 8 yds with no-one in front of him. Priceless.

Just got my text from O2 confirming this too!

So that leaves, let's see, ONE fit striker at the club?

I hope that he does well. While he had many chances to prove himself, it looked like the Man U side did not suit him. Best of luck to him anyway.

Sad to see Diego go, he'll be missed.

Forlan should have gone to Boro originally. I do not get it with him. He has pace and good ball control and he has scored some crackers. But a part of his brain must be dead because he can horribly horribly bad one second and pretty good the next.

...by every other team in the premiership.

7.5m according to Sky website (must check that again, it can't be right). Great piece of business by Utd.

Edit: It definitely does say million there.

I just think Forlan couldn't handle the pressure of playing for such a big club. I honestly think he'll be a success at Villereal, good deal for all 3 concerned.

BTW, he got 4 assists last season and didn't play all that many matches so he's a good team player.

    i agree

it must have said he cost united £7.5m, why would anyone buy him for that now, especially a smaller club with tighter funds

This clown went for two million didn't he?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,467 ✭✭✭smemon

ah ha ha, 7.5m lol! :D

i think forlan could be a hit at another club if he's 1st team regular (would love to see him at celtic by the way).

however 7.5m is stupid, too big an offer for utd to refuse, so theyve made over a million by swapping smith for forlan?! not bad business at all.

I don't think Forlan is even worth that much.

I have to agree, the lad obviously thrives on confidence. I hope he gets on well and think he will. He never really got a chance, one half here, a match there, 15 minutes all to often, anyone that has played will know you need a run of matches to get yourself up to the speed of the game and also for your confidence.

    Best of luck Diego

His record for Uraguary(sp) is brillant from wat I can remember so funny he couldnt score at all for Utd.....something like 1 in every 2 games for his country! scored a screamer in WC as well!!

I think he lacked the strength needed to play in the Premiership. He always seemed to be very light and lost the ball very easily. He wasn't very brave in challenges either. Alot of South American players seem to lack the strength needed to play in the EPL, and the mental strength to not let anyone push them around.

In fairness it should take you alot less than 33 or so games to get your first goal. Especially when you are an attacker.
