What happened to that Cleaning your instrument thread? it was so handy. anyway my epiphone lp's neck is getting very grimy and somewhat sticky, i've tried on the advice of someone i cant remember guitar polish, while this helps for a short while i've noticed that it adds to the grimieness after a while.

Has anyone got any tips on cleaning the neck (other then sanding)

Change your strings regularily and clean the fretboard and neck when you do that too. PM Feylya and Dabhoys about this, they've got a hygiene fetish about these things. Me? I like it dirty :)

Hey chief, what type of guitar polish are you using. Certain ones can leave a residue. The best one for cleaning the neck is the Gibson Polish. Also pick up a good polishing cloth. It will help big time...

And feylya spake in a loud voice:

    "LEMON OIL!!!"

Get yourself some lemon oil (think Dr Stringfellow makes it). Apply some drops to a rag, wipe up and down the neck for a while then buff. Nice and clean.

  • thanks. By the way i'm using Jim Dunlop Polish, I oil the fretboard every time i change strings and its nice and fast but the neck is my problem. Thanks i'll try all your ideas
