Sky £150 FreeSat offer?

I remember reading that Sky were going to offer UK customers installation of a dish, receiver and FTV card for £150, with a possible FTV card only option for £20. These would be one-off payments and there would be no subscription charge. It was supposed to be introduced in early August.

I can't find any evidence of it on Sky.com and no discussion on digitalspy. Anyone have any update on this?

Due to launch early October last I heard. They put it back a month as it was initially planned to coincide with the new EPG in September.

A new EPG? Oooh. Any more info on this?

[Sorry for going OT but don't think it needs a new thread unless EPG changes are significant]

That first link you gave is for the digital terrestrial freeview service received through an aerial.
It's not satelite at all or what is being talked about here.

The second link goes to freeserve which is a totally different word apart from having nothing to do with either freeview the satelite service and the new epg or with DTT.
Have you any idea whats being talked about here?

And I see you have edited your link
It's still digital terrestrial you are linking to and nothing to so with satelite

Regarding the new EPG,there seems to be a lack of information regarding preciscley when this will occur. It was reported that all boxes were recieving upgrades in the "background" earlier in the summer in readiness for the new look, which would allow a greater amount of channels to appear in the EPG.

It may take place in September but a Feb 2005 release date is also being bandied about. There was also a rebrand of Sky channels,Sky One in particular, due in the autumn, the launch of Freesat in October, and a major promotional drive encorporating the launch of the new Sky+ Box in the run up to Christmas.

The new Epg is rumoured to have many changes including removing the BBC Radio Channels and putting them in the Interactive section of BBCi(probably UK only access?) as well as a complete overhaul of display graphics, channel positions, groupings etc and increased capacity for new channel launches.

We will have to wait and see but if its anything like previous rumours (regarding Sky News graphics for example) then it may still be a while off yet and the February date seems more realistic.

I find that doubtful about the BBC moving its radio channels to BBCi - this would lock them into only being able to receive them on a Dodgybox which makes no sense considering the BBC dropped Videoguard encryption last year to sever much of it's ties with BSkyB on satellite. Also UK ex-pats in Europe would also be up in arms, when the BBC shifted its broadcasts to 2D, a large campagin from ex-pats seen BBC Radios 2 and 4LW shifted back to a transponder on 2B. With the possible exception of 5 Live and 5 Live sports extra, none of the BBC Radio channels have much copyright worries.

All BBC Radio on BBCi would be disastrous. Even though I've a UK sub, I don't think I'd listen as much of BBC Radio if I had to slowly trawl through the interactive service. For this reason, I very very seldom listen to Music Choice anymore (after they did similar)

What would make more sense maybe is TV channels and Radio channels having their own EPG numbering, like proper satellite receivers. eg Press TV/Radio button to change between TV channels and Radio Channels.

I still think a shortcut to Subtitles would be handy and a 1 button press to change aspect ratio output of digibox
