Yes for a year and a half a long time ago! They are a shower of wasters.. they cream off you completely and pay you minimum wage! But but it like this, you can learn a bit off them but otherwise nay never again...

Pretty much par the course when dealing with agencies. Last contract I was on I didn't get any details till after I finished it. So I never signed it. Current contract I got details after 2 weeks but some of the other guys are waiting more then 3 weeks.

Yep the pay is sh~t and they treat you like a monkey... expecting you to jump through hoops for little or nothing.
I'd recommend looking for a job elsewere.

Got me contract lads but after a million phone calls and e-mails...

I walked into the office at lunch time on friday and challenged them.

    Got it 5 mins later...

TBH this has put me of contracting for life going to tell my boss here I am finishing on Friday they are a great bunch of lads here but the pay process is sh1t.

I gurantee I will have to fight to get my dosh for the time worked.

I am going to take my time and try and get a fairly decent normal permanent job.

Watch this space...oh yeah one guy here has'nt got paid in 4 months now i won't say anything to him but if that was me i would go through the roof.

Paying well you have to be hard core with these bastards.

No 1) Take no sh1t or we will ring you back crap, I got onto the phone every twenty mins until they did what I told them. It is very simple to EFT money.

Oh by the way they will use the excuse if your not with BOI it will take 3 days longer.

Be ruthless and persistent to the extent of obsessivness, mad as it may seem it is your money so f*ck them.

No 2) Re: The contract, hound them and I mean hound them and if necessary advise them if you don't recieve it by courier within a 2 hour period you will leave.

No 3) They will use an excuse that the financial controller has to sign it off and SHE is to busy, well ask to talk to her. It is with them Stall Stall Stall.

If you need advice or help PM me. I have 6 weeks left in the contract here and I am outta here.

Take no sh1t be adamant and determined.

IT Alliance are Incompetent, have a lot of illegal practices and are no different to any other brain recruitment agency who are out to make a quick buck.

Remember if you threaten enough they will move. I went physically there, that is me but it worked. When I work I expect to get paid and on time.

Work is hard enough without not knowing if your going to get paid or not.

They are no different than a dodgy building site foreman paying you in the pub on a friday and then legging it with all the lads money.

These F*ckers just wear suits and put on a GAM ON D4 accent.

As I said PM me if you need any help advice.

i'm not sure about the inner workings of IT recruitment agencies but this is the second time that this has happened me. i have just finished a 10 month contract, through HRM Recruitment, never recieved a contract, was promised it from the start, it never materialized, got all the usual excuses, similar to the ones being thrown out by IT Alliance, what is the problem/reason that agencies seem incapable of drawing up contracts?

You need to be firm about getting a contract. Say something like 'I am a contractor, I am going to need a contract before I can start'. You can get them to send you a signed one page letter specifying
    - that they are offering you the job,
    - the rate
    - the terms of payment (immediate/30 days or whatever)
    - the notice period on both sides
    - and that your signature constitutes acceptance of the offer

You can email them the text of the letter to help them out.

When you deal with a client or an agency they are sometimes slow to sign contracts or to pay you. This may be due to incompetence or malice. It can be hard to tell which. You can't afford to be rude to them in case you lose their business yet you can't afford to risk not being paid. Before the job starts you should ask them how long it will take to be paid following submission of timesheets. Get this in writing. If they are reluctant to discuss payment terms this is a good indication that they may not pay you at all.

WIth a big client you need to find the name of the person in accounts who is responsible for paying your invoices. Ring this person a week before you are due to be paid for a chat and to check that everything is going to be OK with your payment. If they don't pay you when they said they would, ring them, ring them again 2 days later, write to them another 7 days later and explain that you have another contract in hand and will not come to work if the cash is not in you account within 7 days.

You want to keep it all as polite as possible because it is usually just office incompetence and you won't get future work off them if you get impatient. Even your last letter should make out that you love them and that the reason you're going to go is because of this other contract you have and the fact that you haven't been paid and can't afford your rent. (As soon as payment is late you should really be applying for other contracts just in case.)

This is all a hassle, which is why you should be getting twice your permie salary for contracting.

Have to say I'm dealing with a bunch of muppets on my current contract aswell. They couldn't find their own ass with both hands. 4th week, contracts wrong, so they haven't been signed, most of the guys on the team are in their 6th week, I'm only on my 4th, no ones been paid yet.

I hate agencies. They are just so useless.
