when i was away and lying in the sun....

i got a small dose of heat rash(well i think it is) and it started to spread slowly.....just made an area of the top of my hand and the odd bit up my arms...

not very noticeable but annoying as hell....if the sun shines on it it itches beyond frustration!

just asking...what can i use for the heat rash not to occur?....

i had fairly fair skin before i went and i had to use a factor 30 for a while before going to a lower factor.....

is there something i can get from a dermatologist or something?

they look like small red bumps in clusters and you HAVE to stop sunbathing when it appears coz it gets sore..

    any ideas?

i get this now i used not to

the only thing that stops it is really high factor and plenty of it.

I also got this while on hols in Spain
factor 30 will get rid of it if you put it on every day

I also got this occasionally - and changing my sun cream helped a lot. For some reason I would get the rash between my neck and chest when I used nivea sun cream, it wasn't so bad with clarins and almost non existant with ambre solaire - go figure

Also, it helps if you can cool the area by covering it or dipping it. Another thing I have tried is to take an anti histamine tablet every day, and this seems to minimise the reaction.

At the end of the day though, your body is telling you to get your white ass back into the shade - most of us Irish werent designed to toast under the hot sun all day.

Starting with a high sun block and moving down makes sense. Ive only had heat rash once while on a swimming trainning camp in malta I found calamine (sp?) loton worked wonders as did cold showers. Then again it was at the end of the week so it could have been the clorine affecting my usually dry skin.

Remember to take breaks from the sun, after an hour or two in the sun cover up and don't expose yourself again for the day
