    ok...

ive just come back from Cannes in France and...OMG.....

it has basically changed my mind about girls in ireland forever!!!....

useally i like girls with a tan....most of it is fake but it looks nice anyway....

but where we stayed...there were aphroditie's walking around everywhere....no fake tan to be seen anywhere....beautifully tanned to perfection...the women there ...gorgious!!..i mean...those women that you see on those cut-outs billboards in the windows of pharmacys?...

    that was the standard there!!...anyway...

what do you guys think about tan and how they can change your appearance??..

i got a nice tan when i was away...my face is tanned really well arms/etc...
i needed to pop into town today and i was getting more looks than im used too off girls!!...:)

    anyhoo..whatcha think?

I definitely agree. I was in the south of France this year too and its amazing to see how attractive women look with a proper tan. In Ireland its more of a fake tan layer from the face to the shoulders, which often is very noticeable and very unattractive. Some women in my opinion would look much better without it but they don't seem to realise it.

If women wear fake tan, then obviously they prefer tanned bodies so i suppose a tanned man is more appealing to women too

Heh, a tan would make me look like a tomato.

But, yeah, it's amazing how tanned many French people can get and how natural it looks - even kids - but I find it strange that they don't seem to worry much about skin cancer or even premature ageing of skin.

    you have no idea...

    i felt like such a SNOWMAN there...lol

the women were amazing..im not joking..me and my mate timed how often we would see a gorgious woman....most of the time it relayed back at about every 50 secs to about a minute and a half..inbetween (we were fairly pissed..ina irish pub)...

to get one of those golden caramel tan's you need to stay on the beach about 2 months we were told by a local...

MEN....DO NOT WEAR JEANS NEAR THE BEACH!...lol

you will find it increasingly hard to find room for 'it'...

imagine the most beautiful women you have ever seen...walking around topless on the beach....

    i rest my case!!

anyway..im definantly going back...HAVE to touch up on my french!! :)

I think a natural tan is zillions times more beautiful than fake.. Most fake tans that people use are orange, not brown so thats what makes them look fake on..
Unfortunately for me i haven't been abroad this year so no tan for me. I'm not a fan of fake either though so i'm kinda pale this summer, 1st time in years & it feels weird!

Has to be remembered lads that it cuts both ways! The men on the med are far superior, bronzed gods unlike the sunburned, snowmen with spotty backs and weedy bods you get in this country. Stick out like sore thumbs on the beach !

Not a fan of tans, fake or real. I like being pasty white.

Tans are great. Natural is of course better, but I dont mind fake tan on girls, so long as it doesnt have that Dale Winton orange glow.

Natural tans are great if you can get them. I always feel much more confident if I'm slightly tanned, because I know it looks better than my usual pale skin. I have to be careful not to go over the top though, cos a deep tan can look funny with blonde hair! And there are the health considerations too...

I hate fake tan's they always come out looking like crap...
and the only way it'll look good is getting it done Professionally.

I prefare sitting in the sun and getting tanned, looks much better... + i get tanned very easily

A girl I used to go out with had very milky white skin, but she tanned beautifully too. She was as pretty without the tan as with it, she just looked different. The point being, a tan is just a colour, it is no reflection on how good looking you are. If someone doesn't think you are pretty with no tan, they won't think you are pretty when you are coloured brown/orange.

I'm fortunate to have a year round tan but I would sometimes put a little fake tan on my back in dec/jan if i was wearing something that was revealing. & i have to say that there are times I wished I didn't have sallow skin - tanning easliy can be a pain at times - like after you go on a sun holiday & your legs are brown so your knees look dirty!! & I always get the top of my head tanned - I don't know how! but i think the main attraction to someone with a natural tan is that they look really healthy & of course there is the added bonus that a tan makes you look thinner!!! :D

An all over tan can be attractive alright, but tan lines are seriously unattractive!

I've seen people sunbathe topless in Ireland a few times.

Mneh, as for aging with sun exposure, it depends on the skin tone. I am pretty dark but look about 3-4 years younger than I am.

I look ill if I get too pale.

Just from another angle..... I'm an Irish girl who has lived in both France and Spain, and I thought it was so funny how the blokes there drooled over us. They had a completely different view of what was stunningly beautiful to the lads at home. I think its down to a girl who would normally be unattainable at home. Have you not noticed the amount of gorgeous foreign girls with minger Irish blokes and vice versa with the lads?

Yeah, they're obsessed with blue eyes whereas that's quite boring in Ireland.

Not wanting to party poop here but aren't tans just a little bit dangerous for our skins? A tan is after all a reaction to sun damage - and think of the extra wrinkles that people will get in a few years time... I have a few friends who have had skin cancer, most of them were in their late 20's or early 30's - it is not something anyone should have to go through. Sure, a tan looks great - but is it worth the risk?

I'm real pale and have green eyes. I went to ecuador last summer to help run a summer camp at an orphanage. Everyone down there is dark with brown eyes, so naturally all the kids were amazed at me, especially when I got sun burn. They kept pushing down on my sun burnt arms and watched my skin turn white to red. It hurt, but I didn't mind because they seemed to enjoy it.

Ya tans do make a difference, but what about personality? There may be gorgeous girls around but are they really all that?? They could be right bitches!

Perhaps I should change the forum to Fashion / Appearance / Personality if people are going to keep getting defensive about it.

Hoho, then it would be the f/a/p forum, instead of just the F/Ap forum.

A nice tan on a girl really makes you look twice at her but thats just because your irish and so used to looking at caspers like most of us!

I used to work with spanish lads and it wasn't because irish women were different looking they went with them it was because they dropped their nickers at the sniff of a long haired unshaven spaniard!

Just like irish lads would sell their granny to get a go at a nice tanned foreigner!

I myself am irish true and true and i think its physically impossible for me to tan, i've been working outside most of the summer got some really good burnings, a few extra freckles and thats about the height of things!

Is it possible that some people just don't tan at all???

    Farlz

can i just say thank you for that quote, it's nail on the head. as a semi-national myself, i find it really weird the strange obsession people have to get tanned and be tanned no matter what the season over here..i guess to a certain extent it's because sun is sorely lacking a lot of the time, so it makes sense to crave that which you don't have, but i find it sad that so many people judge a person's attractiveness based on whether they are tan or not. i'm naturally fair (although i'm not averse to using a sunbed now and then), but i think it's ridiculous to go to the extreme, and not go out, for example, unless you have fake tan to spead all over your legs and arms etc.

  • Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators Posts: 10,501 Mod ✭✭✭✭ecksor

I'm not convinced that people do judge attractiveness based on colour, I think there's just the impression that people do which motivates tanning. People are attracted to clear and healthy skin more than anything else I think.
