Following on from this thread, here's the thread to vote for which topic you would prefer to discuss in the next "Philosophy topic of the month" thread!

These were the topics suggested by various posters:

    A Schopenhauer
    B Plato
    C Socrates
    D Wittgenstein and language games
E Bakunin and left and right
F Democracy and Goverment, the problems thereof

Once a topic is chosen, we can pick out a number of texts on that topic to discuss. Obviously, if say, Plato is chosen, we could then pick one or two aspects of his work as it would be impossble to discuss it all in one thread or if, say option F is chosen, we can discuss approaches taken to this problem by different people.

I was going to do a poll but I think it would be better if everyone just listed their preferences in order (1-6, don't bother voting for topics you have no wish to discuss) - this should give a clearer idea of what people are interested in. (6 points for your first choice, 5 for your second and so on down).

So, the vote is open until next Saturday the 28th of August. I can put links to some texts up soon after that and then start the discussion!

Feedback, suggested links etc are always welcome - post here or PM me!

Yup, it's democracy and the problems thereof then!

So, i'll look for some stuff online to link to on this topic, to stimulate the discussion - if anybody's got any suggestions, pm me with them.

Dont need to look for online stuff...

Looking at this thread http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=1877435 the major problem seems to be creating a framework for discussion, contrast and comparison :-).

    big grin
