uninstalling keyboard

Maybe I'm being silly and missing something really obvious here. Maybe someone can help.

I'm installing a new optical keyboard and mouse, but to do this I have to uninstall the previous driver. The uninstall button for the driver is greyed out because, according to Windows Help, you can't uninstall your keyboard because then you won't have a keyboard?!?! I've tried installing over it but it hasn't worked because the previous driver is taking precedent. Any ideas, anyone?

Just unplug the old keyboard, pop in the new one. No drivers should be needed unless its for the special buttons the keyboard might have ..........

Drivers are already built into XP for the keyb support.

It's the new wireless ones Komplett are selling cheap at the moment. They're advertised as Ortek Wireless OfficeMedia Pro. Has anybody else got one and had a problem installing them. There's no way of uninstalling the old keyboard driver and I'm having no luck installing over it.

You are not alone. I have been trying to install a 'Belkin' wireless keyboard and optical mouse for about a week, and it has driven me crazy.

I can get the mouse working perfectly and the little green light on the receiver shows it is working, but the keyboard - lovely looking as it is, simply will not function

I am going to return it.Even though I know it is probably me. My system is Windows XP Pro, which is supposed to be plug & play with this kit.

Plug and crack up, more like ?.. sorry if you feel I have hijacked your thread, but I really am desperate

I'm on XP as well. It simply won't recognise the new hardware.
