If it just cuts off straight away then id be looking at the PSU.

Try other programs and see if the same happens, ie when the PC is under pressure.

The best thing you can do is download a program called "Prime95" install it and run the torture (or blend test) . This will put a little pressure on the PC. If it doesent restart then your prob is with the Hard Disk, quite possibly Virus or corruption etc.......

If it restarts while running prime95 then reply back to this thread and we can identify whats the problem pretty quickly.

From your initial post my bet is with the PSU (provided that this is a general problem any time the PC comes under pressure/strain)

this is why i thought overheating, if u let the CPU get cold, it will be okay for a few mins, then it will be hot again and restart when load is pushed onto it.

Check your HSF is on properly.

I had this problem not so long ago!! Turned out the HSF was on back-to-front.

Since it seemed like most programs caused the PC to reboot it looked to me like power had alot if not all to do with it. Ie the CPU was under pressure and the PSU needed to give it more power.......

Overheating is a good point, and since you have gotten a new PSU that seems like a good explination for the problem. Very good point Jammer probably much better than mine.......... especially as i missed the " push the switch again and it boots up for a 4 secs and switchs off again and again again but if u leave it off for a day or 2 "

That looks like a bettet much option, well spotted Jammer........

[edit] Took me about an hour to write this (watchin Kill Bill2) but Jammer got there before me with the same point.......... bang on.
