    ###BEGINS###

    [FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE]

In a build up to their Extraordinary General Meeting on September 11th in Dublin, IrelandOffline the Irish Internet lobby group have launched an online survey. The survey, open to anyone in Ireland, will capture people's views on the current consumer experience and perception of telecoms, and allow members to express their opinion of IrelandOffline. Using multiple-choice style questions, the survey also allows people to voice their opinions at length and provides the option to leave contact details. The ability to join the IrelandOffline mailing list is also included.

It is hoped this survey will capture the mood and stark realities of Irish people's struggle to get broadband. The survey also asks whether the current state of telecoms infrastructure in Ireland would affect people's voting decision in Council, General and European elections. The results may prove worrying for currently elected representatives.

Once the survey is completed the core data collected will be publicly available to any interested independent third parties. This will allow independent commentators to draw their own conclusions about Ireland's broadband success or lack thereof. IrelandOffline is confident of a large data sample. Although the survey was merely trialled on the IrelandOffline forum, over 400 people have completed the survey in the first 48 hours.

    The survey is available at:
