video to dvd

    Hi,
    I have a dell inspiron 1100 laptop, I am trying to copy my old videos and home movies onto dvd but have failed so far, I've tried differnt cables and software and bought dvd creator software and cable combination in argos but none of it works for me.

    Any help would be relaly appreciated.

    My sister is into film production. She uses a device called a DAC-100 (from DataVideo, sourced it for her a couple of years ago) to grab output from her VCR and transfer it as DV to her Mac. From there on, she re-authors the content etc and creates DVDs/transfer the final work back to VHS.

    I think the DAC-100 was about 200 euros a couple of years ago. Could be cheaper now, great piece of kit.
